Choose a theme
Make your site feel like you. Pick colors, fonts, and a layout that match your style.
Open the Theme editor
From your dashboard, click into the site you want to customize, then select Theme from the site menu. This opens the Theme Customizer where you can control how your entire site looks.
Start with a template
The easiest way to get a beautiful site is to pick one of the built-in templates. Each template includes coordinated colors, fonts, and layout styling that work together.
Click any template card to apply it instantly. You will see the live preview update at the bottom of the page so you can see exactly how it will look before saving.
Templates are a starting point, not a commitment. After applying a template you can still change individual colors or fonts to make it your own.
Try a color scheme
Below the templates you will find Color Schemes — quick-apply palettes like Classic, Modern, Whimsical, Minimal, Rustic, and Elegant. These change the colors and fonts without any custom CSS styling.
Color schemes are great if you like a template’s advanced styling but want different colors, or if you want a clean look without extra design flourishes.
Customize your colors
For full control, use the Colors section to set each color individually:
- Primary Color — Used for buttons, the navigation bar, and key highlights
- Secondary Color — Used for section backgrounds and subtle accents
- Accent Color — Small decorative touches like underlines and badges
- Background Color — The main page background
- Text Color — Body text and headings
Click any color swatch to open a color picker. Below the swatches you will see real-time contrast ratios — these tell you whether your text will be readable against your background. Biraea requires all ratios to meet the WCAG AA standard (4.5:1) before saving.
Accessibility matters
If any contrast ratio shows “Fail,” try darkening your text color or lightening your background until all checks pass. This ensures every visitor can read your site comfortably.
Choose fonts and layout
The Typography section lets you pick a heading font and a body font. Biraea offers a curated list of web fonts, from elegant serifs like Playfair Display and Cormorant Garamond to clean sans-serifs like Montserrat, Poppins, and Inter.
Under Layout, you can choose from four styles:
- Classic — Traditional centered layout
- Modern — Clean, contemporary feel
- Sidebar — Navigation on the side for a wider content area
- Full Width — Edge-to-edge sections for a spacious look
You can also set the Border Radius to control how rounded buttons and cards look — from sharp corners to fully pill-shaped.
Preview and save
As you make changes, the Live Preview at the bottom of the page updates in real time. It shows a mock version of your site with navigation, headings, cards, and a footer so you can see exactly how your choices come together.
When you are happy with the look, click Save Theme. Your changes will apply immediately to your site. If your site is already published, visitors will see the new look right away.
No commitment
You can come back to the Theme editor and change things as many times as you like. Try a few combinations until you find the one that feels right.
Tips
Coordinate with your nursery or shower theme
If you have a color palette picked out for the nursery or baby shower, use those same hex values as your primary and accent colors for a perfectly matched site.
Less is often more
A simple palette of two or three colors tends to look more polished than many different colors. Let the template do the heavy lifting and adjust from there.
