Registry and cash funds

Let your loved ones know exactly what you need. Link to your registries at popular stores, add individual gift items, or set up cash funds for the things that matter most.

2

Adding individual gift items

Beyond linking to external registries, you can also add individual items to any registry. This is perfect for gifts from smaller shops or specific items you want to highlight.

  1. 1Open a registry and click "Add Item".
  2. 2Enter the item name and item web address.
  3. 3Optionally add a price and description.
  4. 4Check "Group Gift" if multiple people can pitch in for a pricier item.
  5. 5Save the item.

Auto-fill from the web address: When you paste in a product web address, Biraea will try to pull in the title, description, image, and price automatically. You can always edit these before saving.

You can track which items have been purchased and who bought them. This updates automatically when guests mark gifts as purchased on your site.

Setting up cash funds

Cash funds let your guests contribute money toward something meaningful -- a college savings fund, nursery furniture, or just everyday baby essentials. Guests can contribute any amount through a secure checkout.

  1. 1On the Registry page, click "Add Cash Fund".
  2. 2Give it a name (like "College Fund" or "Nursery Makeover").
  3. 3Write an optional description explaining what the fund is for.
  4. 4Set an optional goal amount so guests can see the progress toward your target.
  5. 5Add an optional image to make the fund feel personal.
  6. 6Choose a connected Stripe account to receive the contributions (see below).
  7. 7Save it!

Each cash fund shows the total raised and the number of contributors, so you and your guests can watch the progress together. You can also toggle funds between active and inactive at any time.

4

Connecting Stripe for payments

To receive cash fund contributions, you will need to connect a Stripe account. Stripe handles all the payment processing securely -- you never have to touch credit card numbers.

  1. 1Go to the Registry page and look for the Stripe Accounts section.
  2. 2Click "Connect Stripe Account" and give it a label (like "My checking account").
  3. 3Follow the Stripe onboarding link to set up or connect your bank account.
  4. 4Once connected, select this account when creating a cash fund.

You can connect multiple Stripe accounts and choose which one to use for each fund. For example, you might send college fund contributions to a savings account and nursery fund contributions to your checking account. Each fund picks its own Stripe account independently -- there is no site-wide setting.

You can also rename or disconnect Stripe accounts at any time from the same section. If you disconnect an account that a fund is using, the fund will simply pause contributions until you connect a new one.

Be upfront about fees

Cash fund contributions are subject to a processing fee of approximately 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. This is a standard Stripe fee -- Biraea does not add anything on top. So if someone contributes $50, about $1.75 goes to processing and you receive the rest. It is a good idea to mention this to your guests so there are no surprises.

What your guests see

When your guests visit the Registry page on your site, they see a clean, organized view of everything:

  • Registry links are grouped by store with clear links to your external registries.
  • Individual items show their name, image, price, and a button to mark as purchased. Group gifts show a note that multiple people can contribute.
  • Cash funds show the fund name, description, progress toward the goal (if set), and a button to contribute. Clicking it takes them to a secure Stripe checkout.

Purchase tracking is visible to everyone, so guests can see what has already been bought and avoid duplicates.

Tips

Mix registry links and cash funds

You do not have to choose one or the other. Many families link their store registries for specific items and add a cash fund or two for bigger goals like a savings account or a special nursery piece.

Set a goal on cash funds

Adding a goal amount makes the progress bar visible to guests. It gives people a sense of how close you are and can encourage contributions.

Keep descriptions personal

A short, warm description on each cash fund makes a big difference. Instead of just "College Fund", try "Help us start baby Olivia's education savings -- every dollar counts!"
